Department of State Development
  • Virtual Shipyard – Digital Training Program

Through the Virtual Shipyard Training Program, the South Australian Government is helping local companies develop the digital capabilities used worldwide to test construction, manage the entire lifecycle of projects, and link companies in to the supply chains of Prime Contractors, to enable them to compete for major defence work.

The program will position South Australia’s supply-chain to take advantage of the wealth of defence shipbuilding opportunities that will become available in South Australia from 2020, through projects including the Future Frigates and Future Submarines.

Through the Virtual Shipyard Program, a high-value, world-class supply chain, will be developed and retained in South Australia, creating sustainable jobs into the future and positioning the state at the forefront of industrial digital capability development in Australia across not only defence, but other industry sectors too, such as mining, agriculture, healthcare, space, ICT, cyber and information security.

Sixteen South Australian companies are participating in the Virtual Shipyard Program, which is being delivered at Regency TAFE SA.
